Traditionally people go to see a medical doctor when they feel ill. The doctor will examine them and will make a determination on what they think is causing the person to feel ill and the will give the person a prescription for some pills they should take. Many times the patient has to return to the doctor because the medication that the doctor prescribed to correct the problem, is causing them to have different problems and they need medication to correct the new problems caused by the medication.

Most of the diagnoses that doctors make are also accompanied by many very expensive testing procedures so that the doctor can determine the exact cause of the person’s pain and symptoms. The medications that the doctor prescribes might also be very expensive and sometimes people are required to take these medications for the remainder of their lives.

There are many people who cannot afford the testing and the medication that the doctors of traditional medicine order. These people frequently visit alternative health centers and utilize services based on natural medicine and holistic healing to receive treatment for the symptoms they have. The alternative health services are also used by people who have been receiving medical attention from the traditional doctors and health care providers and have had little or no relief from their symptoms. You will also find that people who are diagnosed with chronic illnesses frequently try some form of alternative health treatment to help them cope with their diseases and to manage the pain and other symptoms the diseases are causing.

Alternative health treatment centers are not run by witch doctors using voodoo magic to treat people for illness. The treatments that are provided fall under the category of holistic healing and natural remedies, and are treatments which have been used for many years, often centuries. They are treatments that contain some of the folk remedies and cures that were used on people before the medical doctors became widespread and popular and before pharmaceutical companies came into being. These centers will use natural ingredients and holistic treatments and remedies to try and relieve symptoms of illness. Often times the approach is centered around prevention, requiring the patient to take a more proactive approach to their own healthcare.

For instance: a person that is suffering the painful symptoms of gallstones will be asked to do a cleansing to try and remove the stones from the organ and thus stop the pain. In order to perform this cleansing the person will be instructed to eat green apples for an entire day. The only thing they are allowed to consume with these apples is water. Before the person goes to bed they will be told to mix two thirds of a cup of olive oil with one third a cup of lemon juice and drink the combination. The mixture will help the gallbladder to expel the stones and help them to be forced into the small intestine so they can be passed from the body in the human waste.

A person utilizing alternative health centers might for example have signs of type II diabetes. They will immediately be instructed in an adequate diet and exercise routine that will help them to control their blood sugars without the assistance of man-made medications. People that go into these alternative practices with boils caused by staff infections will be given natural remedies they can use to make the boil come to the surface and rupture on its own without cutting it or using medications. The membrane from an egg can be used for this purpose and pieces of salt pork can be used. After the boil has ruptured the person will be instructed on ways to help cleanse their bodies where the presence of staff germs will not be allowed to enter.

Alternative health treatments focus on helping people to deal with the symptoms they have of illness in their body naturally, without using chemicals and invasive procedures. These services are not against the traditional practices and generally will not try and prevent their patients from seeking the advice of traditional medicine providers. Their main goal is to encourage people to get and stay healthy by natural means and proactive measures. But what is their main focus and MO?

Are you getting old or suffering from an illness or just want to live a healthier and better life then chi kung for health and vitality is a great way to achieve these goals. I’ve been doing chi kung for a couple of years now and I never felt better. There’s not a day that I feel like dying or just mope around and sleep all day because I’m just too busy enjoying life.

I’m far from being the next qigong master, but that doesn’t stop me from doing my daily exercises because I know that if I just meditate I’m getting into a chi state of mind where I can reflect, acknowledge, and see my role in the universe. I also get out all the negativity and stress that builds up during the day. Thus, meditation is an excellent way to disperse this stress.

Over time stress can build up causing us physical harm like over eating and premature aging. Stress is a good way to get wrinkles and arthritis however a buildup of a lot of stress can clump into tumors, clots, and plaque. In short this can lead to heart attacks, strokes, and even diabetes.

There’s been much study’s where people incorporated meditation into their lives and the results were astonishing. In fact, Native American are suffer from obesity and diabetes because of their genes and poor health choices, but after doing a month of meditation they are taking less insulin and some have reduced their insulin by half and this was only after a month of meditation.

Here’s a quick technique that you can do when you are at work or just need a little boost of life. It’s called fill the heart with joy and its very effective because it’s so simple. First thing, think of something that will make you lite up like your children eating a birthday cake or when your friend surprised you with something that made you happy. It can be anything really, it’s just has to put a smile on your face and fill your heart with joy. The best way to achieve this is just do it and don’t think too much of it. Just fill your heart with joy, it’s that simple. Do this 10 times, 50 times or 100 times a day its very effective and you’ll see why when you try it.

Chi kung for health and vitality incorporates meditation in all of its exercises and anyone can do them. Unlike yoga it’s not stressful on your limbs and joints, but you’ll still get all the benefits of yoga. It’s also share some moves of tai chi but it’s not nearly as complicated. Qigong is all about being simple and effective.

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in health care is a great choice for many individuals. There are many career opportunities available in this profession, and it is a very rewarding career choice. Students who are thinking about entering into this type of degree program should consider its pros and cons to figure out if it is the best option.

The first thing you’ll want to consider when thinking about entering into a health care degree program is if it is the best choice for you. If you are a people person and love communicating with groups of people on a daily basis, this is a great choice. If, however, you find conversing with people every day in-person to be daunting, then this is not the career choice for you.

It is not unlikely for individuals who work in health care to face a variety of challenges each day as well. You will be sure to face team-based challenges as well as having to think creatively on your feet within a moment’s notice. When working in the field, there are many times when you will need to drop one task and quickly pick up a new one. If you are not a fan of this, then pursuing a degree in this field may not be the right choice for you.

Attention to detail is very important in a job in this profession. Within the world of medicine, paying close attention to detail can make the difference between life and death. This means that you have to be responsible and dedicated to your cause as well. Health care is constantly changing and developing, so you must also be willing to stay current with all of the latest theories and technologies as well.

What is great about earning a degree in health care is that there are many online programs available for students to choose from. This makes earning your degree more accessible and easier to fit into your schedule. The first thing you want to look for in an online institution is that it is accredited. Most employers look most favorably on schools that have regionally accredited degree programs. This is important to remember when researching schools.

Because health care is such a hands-on career, you want to make sure that whatever program you enroll in offers you the ability to put your knowledge into practice via internships or special classes. If you are choosing an online program, you’ll want to make sure that it has a relationship with a local health care facility that will allow you to put everything you learn into practice.

Once you have graduated from a program, you can choose to pursue a variety of jobs within the field. Many students choose to work as nurses or physicians assistants in hospitals, with private companies, or in schools. Others choose to enter into the administrative aspect and choose to become a hospital administrator or even the chief of medicine at a hospital. Depending on what you like best in the field will help you determine the best career path for you to take.

There is an ever increasing need for professionals in the home health care industry. If you are considering a career path, or have decided you want to make a career change, you will find a variety of positions that fall under the home health care tag. This has been marked as an industry that is expected to grow significantly in the next few years.

Although the majority of home health care positions involve services for our geriatric community, there are also positions available to provide for younger patients that are ill or disabled. The needs are great in this industry; however, the variety of positions available may not be as diverse. This job field does offer a variety of rewards in that the services you offer improve the quality of life for those that require the services.

If you are more management minded and want to make a difference, you could consider a career as a placement agent or account manager. A job such as this will place you in the interview phase of the home health care process. You will meet with the family or the client and assess their needs and help create a plan of action that will provide the best options for the care needed.

If you prefer to work directly with the patient, you could consider becoming a home health aide. This job will allow you to interact directly with the patient. This is a good position for someone that wants to see the immediate rewards of the efforts they put into their job. You can work directly for the patient, or their family, or you can work through an agency that will place you with a patient.

There are several types of positions in most home health care agencies, but the two most common are Personal Care Aide (PCA) or a Home Health Aide (HHA). Both of these positions require specific training and supervision by a Registered Nurse. Although both positions are similar, there are some differences between the two.

A Personal Care Aide gives the patient help with the activities required for daily living. They may help bathe the patient and help them with walking and exercise. They are also trained to assist with toileting, and transfers with mechanical lifts. A PCA will often be employed to assist with cleaning, running errand, and providing meals.

A Home Health Aide provided all the nonprofessional nursing services listed above. They can provide all the same services as a PCA, but a HHA is additionally trained in other areas. They often provide services such as recording fluid intake, or taking the vital signs of the patients. They may also provide assistance with bandage changes and are trained to recognize signs of infection.

This industry is one that provides the benefit of a career that leaves you feeling like you have made a difference at the end of the day. Although the home health care industry may not provide a lot of flexibility in positions, it does provide an ample supply of job opportunities because of our aging population.

To be perfectly honest we could all stand to be a bit more healthy, particularly when it comes to getting exercise. There is, however, a point when a good, healthy habit turns into a harmful addiction that is actually doing damage to the person with the addiction instead of improving their life.

What Is Exercise Addiction?

At it’s most basic, exercise addiction is a behavioral addiction, but it really stems from body image issues that can drive the afflicted to push their exercise regime past the point where it’s healthy and beneficial to where it can have lasting long-term destructive effects on the body of the person.

While the point at which exercise moves from healthy habit to harmful addiction will vary from person to person, the standard for the shift is when exercising starts having a detrimental effect on the addicts life, including having an impact on their body, mind, work, and social interactions. Whereas a person with a healthy exercise routine will skip a session if work or their personal life impedes their ability to exercise, an addict will eschew work or social interactions just to work out, and will actually have withdrawal symptoms if something prevents them from exercising.

Effects of Exercise Addiction

Unlike addictions to things like drugs or even alcohol and gambling, the ramifications for exercise addiction are different because the addiction can easily progress to dangerous levels before being noticed. In addition to avoiding social and professional obligations in an effort to exercise more, those afflicted with exercise addiction also face real health problems associated with the disease.

While a healthy work out schedule factors in time to let the body recover from the activity, those with an addiction will not only push their bodies past the point of exhaustion within their work out, but will not allow their bodies to recover from the work out before doing another one, which can cause damage to muscle and joint tissue. In addition to damage to joints and muscles, lack of sleep and eating disorders are also closely related to exercise addiction as the addict will not take in the nutrients they need or get a healthy nights sleep.

Treatment

Treating exercise addiction is much like treating an addiction to gambling, as both are focused on the release of endorphins within the brain. While there are no medications approved for the treatment of exercise addiction, exposure and response prevention treatments are the most popular way to help those with the addiction. Those with both an exercise and eating disorder will often receive treatment concurrently since the conditions are often linked and treating them both allows the mental health professional to get to the root of the problem.

If you or somebody you know has an exercise addiction, the best thing you can do for yourself or your friend is to have them reach out to a professional that specializes in behavioral addictions before they do irreparable damage to their bodies.

Health is an all time important factor which can help you succeed in academics. We must therefore take good care of our health. Our body is a very complex being and does a lot of work and as such it deserves appreciation. One may wonder as to how to take care of our body and keep it healthy? Answer to this question is very simple. We must give our body the necessary food, water and rest, which it needs to function properly. If the body is deprived of any of them, it becomes difficult for it to function properly, making us dull, lazy and also prone to many diseases/infections.

How does food, water and rest help in succeeding in academics is yet another question which many of you might have. A healthy body results in a healthy mind which is an important factor the brain to function well. If you are able to concentrate for a longer period of time and retain the information clearly, it means that your body has been supplied with all the necessary elements to make this possible.

Here are some tips which you can follow to help you keep yourself healthy and aiding in better concentration during studies.

1. Food – foremost rule of developing a healthy body is to stop the intake of junk food and beverages and start eating fruits and vegetables with lots of water. Water helps the body to digest the food easily and fruits and vegetables help in replenishing the needed nutrients for the body. A well balanced meal 3 times a day is a must for studying children.

2. Exercise – “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” – this is one old saying that we have heard many times. This is very true. If a student is expected to study all the time without any physical exercise, this brings down the energy levels and also makes the student lethargic. Physical exercise is another important element which can not only keep one healthy, but also aides in memory enhancement.

3. Sleep – adequate sleep is required by the body to function properly. Loss of sleep can result in poor concentration and energy levels in a person. Giving the body the required sleep can help it relax and gear up for the following day.

4. Stress – this is one thing which can be found in any person, irrespective of the age. Stress has got hold of us and the only way to get rid of it from our lives is to plan properly. Planning the time and task in hand will help one complete ahead of time, reducing the stress to a large extent.

What exactly is home health care and how do you enter this booming market? As indicated by its name, home health care is simply health care provided for those that require assistance in their home. It shouldn’t be confuse from basic home care, which does not account for the trained medical care that is provided.

In most cases, simple home care involves meeting the day to day needs of your loved one, like shopping, cleaning and errand running, and is mostly provided by friends or family. On occasion a companion is hired to perform these tasks. In contrast, home health care is usually provided by a trained professional. This may be a nurse, a therapist, or a home health aide.

To become a home health care professional, you will be required to receive some type of training. The training focus will usually center on home safety in regards to the patient. You will also receive training on how to deliver professional personal care, and how to properly use the equipment needed to assist those requiring home health care services.

The training required for the various positions can vary from on the job training to more advanced training that requires certification or a degree. The largest organization that offers training for home health care certification is the National Association for Home Care and Hospice. They offer various certification programs.

If you are in a current management position, you may want to become certified as a Home Care and Hospice Executive. If you want to receive a certification in the hands on training area, you can apply for the Home Care Aide National Certification program. No matter which certification you seek, you will need to re-certify every four years.

For the home care aides, the certification process will involve three elements that you must pass. You must pass the Training portion, the Skills Demonstration, and the Written Examination. The training portion requires a curriculum of 75 hours. This training will give you the medical skills to become fully certified.

The Skills Demonstration portion involves demonstrating competency in seventeen various skills. Demonstration of this competency comes from observation and documentation. The Written Examination is administered by the Home Care University. Obtaining your certification will ensure patients and clients that you are providing them with a higher standard of home care aide.

Whether you desire to enter this field in a management position, or as a hands-on care provider, the home health care industry has an increased need for professionals in this field. Because of our aging population, the need is expected to continue to rise through the next ten years or so. Obtaining your certification in this area will give you a leg up on your competition.

What is Chia?

This flowering plant belonging to the mint family is cultivated for its seeds, which have come to be known for their multiple health benefits.

What is in chia seeds that make them so healthy?

Most importantly, chia seeds are especially high in Omega-3 fatty acids – in fact, they are the highest plant source of Omega-3. Omega-3 is not produced internally, so we have to get it from foods. It is necessary for maintaining good physical health. For example, studies indicate that these fatty acids reduce inflammation and lower the risk of heart disease and arthritis. They have also been shown to be beneficial in lowering the risk of many cancers and treating depression.

This food is a fantastic source of vitamin A, B, D, and vitamin E as well. Plus, chia offers calcium, phosphorus, iodine, copper, potassium, sulphur, iron, zinc, and other essential minerals. In addition, you can find high levels of antioxidants in chia.

The seeds are also packed with soluble dietary fiber and protein. Soluble fiber slows down the absorption of sugars and starches by your body, so chia, as a source of this kind of fiber, is useful for stabilizing blood glucose levels.

What is the history of chia?

Chia was a main food crop and trading material of the Aztec population. Warriors and messengers ate chia seeds to sustain themselves during strenuous expeditions.

Today, chia is sometimes called “Indian running food,” “superfood,” or “power food” because of the energizing effects of this amazing seed. The seeds are rising in popularity among healthy eaters, weight loss hopefuls, and those with gluten-free diets.

How can I use chia seeds in my diet?

Chia is easy to incorporate into your weight loss goals or healthy eating plan. You can eat the dried seeds just as they are, or use chia flour for baking or cooking. You can mix the seeds with water to form a gel, and then add the gel to butter, spreads, soups, stews or use it as a substitute for eggs. You can sprinkle chia on salads or toppings. There are many ways to eat chia so there is sure to be a good way for you that suits your family’s habits.

Remember, chia’s high in fiber so you don’t have to eat much to feel full. You can bulk up a recipe with chia gel and this is a safe way to lose weight.

While tea has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine, modern research has begun to show evidence that many Chinese teas can be very good for your health. It has been shown to boost your immune system, aid digestion and help with weight loss. While information on tea health benefits has previously been scattered and unreliable, this article will give you an overview of many Chinese tea health benefits, and tell you which teas can best help you live a more healthy and happy life.

Teas Which Aid Digestion

Do coffee and soda tend to upset your stomach? If so, tea can be a very efficacious alternative, giving you the caffeine you need to get your day started without the side effects. In fact, I can personally attest to this being true. I suffer from both acid reflux and a severe caffeine addiction, and have greatly reduced my own discomfort and heartburn by cutting coffee and soda out of my diet. I still get my caffeine fix though by drinking up to or over five cups of tea a day, and have yet to feel any discomfort from this.

While black tea, green tea, pu-erh and herbal teas all claim to aid in digestion, the most important thing to look for is not the specific type of tea, but rather its production method. The best teas for aiding digestion have been “post-fermented” as part of their production process. These teas typically begin as green teas or oolongs, but then go through a period of open-air aging which oxidates and ferments the tea, mellowing it out. Not only are these teas less harsh on the stomach, the enzymes and microflora which develop in the post-fermentation process can actually aid in digestion, making these teas ideal for drinking after a heavy meal.

The most common post-fermented tea is pu-erh. When buying a pu-erh for aiding digestion, make sure to buy a shou, or “ripened,” variety, as the sheng, or “raw,” variety has not gone through this process, and can actually be quite harsh on the stomach.

Teas Which Aid Weight Loss

While there are quite a few “weight loss” teas on the market, you may have been wondering whether or not they actually work. Sadly, many of them promise much more than they actually deliver. However, there have actually been a wide range of studies showing that many teas–especially green tea–has a positive effect on metabolic rate and cholesterol levels, which can be useful for aiding in weight loss.

If you want to buy a tea for weight loss, you really don’t have to spend big money on special blends. Most types of Chinese green tea-including Pi Lo Chun, Mao Jian and Gunpowder Green-contain the compounds which aid weight loss, and, when combined with proper diet and exercise may expedite weight loss.

Tea for your Immune System

Chinese teas have long been used to ward off disease and boost peoples’ immune systems. Recently, modern science has confirmed what people have suspected for thousands of years: many teas have subtle but positive effects on the human immune system. The main reason for this is that tea contains Theanine, an amino acid which has been shown to boost immune response by increasing the disease-fighting capacity of the body’s T Cells, a type of white blood cell. In fact, in a study comparing tea drinkers to coffee drinkers, the tea drinkers’ production of antibacterial proteins was found to be up to five times higher than that of the coffee drinkers’!

Almost all Chinese teas contain Theanine, but there are a few things to keep in mind. For starters, most herbal teas do not contain this compound, and their health benefits may vary. Both green tea and black tea contain Theanine, meaning that you can drink your favorite tea and do right by your body at the same time!

Clearly, switching from coffee to tea, or just expanding your tea-drinking horizons to encompass the dizzying variety of Chinese teas can be very beneficial to your health! In addition, Chinese tea has a number of other helpful compounds which researches are very optimistic about, which could assist in diabetes prevention, mood elevation and fighting bad breath.
